When I began teaching, I was asked how I would describe the profession and myself as a teacher, my answer was simple:
“I see myself as the big sister or the girl next door taking my student by the hand and making French easy, clear, and accessible. I want to make sure the learning process is fun and smooth.”
And it became my teaching style!

Wondering if I'm the right teacher for you?
I know how frustrating it can be sometimes. You feel like you know the words, you know the grammar, but when you speak, it doesn’t come out the way you want it to. It just doesn’t sound quite right. Sometimes, you even feel stupid and French looks like a huge mountain to climb. I get it! 🫤
How do I know that? Well, don’t we say in English “been there, done that”? I’ve learned 6 languages myself (English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Dutch and German), and I speak 3 of them fluently in addition to French (my native language). It made me understand that fluency not only comes from clear and structured lessons that focus on language skills but also from practice. You know, “practice makes perfect”… That’s exactly why I encourage my students to think, hear and speak the language. You have to live the language and use it. No vocabulary lists or purely grammatical explanations, but a focus on comprehension and speaking skills. You don’t need to be good at languages or gifted either! All you need is regular practice, structure, a safe space and a teacher who understands and motivates you…
That’s why, here, you’ll find lessons focused on real communication and everyday situations, so you can feel confident navigating the world in French. 🥳 Because the goal is to understand and to be understood, right?
My teaching experience also shaped my vision of language learning
When I began teaching French, back in 2015, it was to groups of Brazilians living in Belgium. They wanted to learn French quickly, with a practical approach and as little theory as possible. It was a bit challenging for me but a good way to make lessons as practical as possible and to make the most of it. We focused on language skills and real-world situations, on the French they needed to get by and for everyday life.
Later on, I also worked with teenagers struggling at school. It was eye-opening. Learning a language shouldn’t be overwhelming, daunting or hard. Explanations must be clear and simple, paired with practical examples. It was so rewarding to see their faces light up and hear them say, ‘Thank you, ma’am, I finally get it now.’
After that, I switched to adults and worked in a public institution in Brussels offering language trainings, in a non-profit organization with retired people and finally for private language schools. There was one thing in common: learning should be fun. If you have fun, you enjoy the learning process; and when you like something, you stay motivated and see the results.
And now, I created Your French Course, to help you!
